MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN HEALTHCARE

Commercial Solar PV System For HealthNet Homecare

HealthNet Homecare pride themselves on delivering high quality care services to patients at home. Working with over 160,000 patients across a variety of different therapy areas, their team focus on making people’s lives easier, taking the stress out of care.

The team at HealthNet Homecare are passionate about making a difference, in more ways than more, so when the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint arose, they approached Project Energy.

The team were eager to reduce electricity costs and carbon footprint at both their Featherstone and Swadlincote sites and so approached Project Energy to look at solar PV on both their commercial properties. Project Energy share the focus on making people’s lives easier also, saving them money and helping them reduce their energy consumption, so it was a no brainer for the two to join forces on this project!

The Commercial Solar PV Process

Andrew and the Project Energy team set to work to design systems that best met the needs of the customer. Designs were then submitted to the local Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to gain permission to connect the proposed systems to the existing electricity grid.

We were met with a bump in the road when we found out the grid in both areas was unable to cope with the size of the system that was originally designed. However, this didn’t stop us! Having worked on several other, similar, commercial solar PV projects, the Project Energy team knew how to work around this challenge.

After careful consideration and discussion between us and the customer as well as with the DNOs, we went on to design a number of smaller systems to work around those limitations.

On two of the commercial buildings in Swadlincote, a G100 export limitation device was installed. This device limits the maximum possible export of the 66kW systems installed to a maximum of 50kW. Due to the electricity demand on the site, mainly from the walk in refrigerators, it is highly unlikely that export will ever reach the maximum allowed.

The 4 buildings had a total of 660 Solarwatt 405W pure panels on a K2 mounting system and 5 30kW and 3 36kW Huawei inverters.

Making A Difference In Carbon Emissions

A huge takeaway from this project is that all 4 systems were installed with minimum disruption to the business and the systems have consistently produced electricity in line with the estimates Project Energy provided as part of the design.

Chris Carver, Deputy Chief Executive of HealthNet Homecare says,

“We are very happy with the outcome of this project, especially the great impact it has had and will continue to have on our electricity bills. Working with Project Energy was smooth from start to finish.

We have since asked Project Energy to undergo another project with us and install EV chargers at both our Featherstone and Swadlincote sites. I would recommend them to any business that is looking to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions”

Not only did we work towards meeting the customers’ needs, and overcome the limitations we faced with the local electricity grid, but Project Energy have managed to successfully help yet another business save money on their electricity bills and reduce their carbon footprint.

Solar PV continues to lead the clean energy revolution in the commercial world with more than 1.3 million systems now installed across the country. Andrew and Project Energy are proud to not only help businesses like this one save energy but save money too!

“We were trying to both reduce our carbon footprint and save money at the same time. We have achieved our goal. The personnel who carried out the electrical work could not have been any more pleasant, efficient, clean, competent nor flexible. Apart from the initial project we have used their services over and over again. They worked at any time we requested them to work, especially evenings and weekends.”

QA-HSE-Infrastructure Manager

We selected Project Energy to install new LED and emergency lighting at our 18000 square feet unit in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The service they provided was excellent, beginning with a site visit, regular communication regarding proposals and cost and finally the installation.
The whole project ran smoothly and we are thrilled with the final result.
We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering a similar project.

Owner

We used Project Energy Ltd on recent project to replace all our lighting with energy efficient LED fittings.

We had applied for EU funded Resource Efficiency Grant and Andy was very helpful at this early stage, helping us through the maze of paperwork. Once we had been accepted on the grant scheme the actual installation was a dream. Andy ensure all the material and access equipment was on site before work commenced, the electricians arrived and work was completed in 2 days.

And the finished job? The new lights are amazing! The office is so much brighter, but not at all glaring – more a natural light than the old stuff. We are also extremely happy with the high level bay lights in the warehouse where 2 new LED’s have replaced 10 fluorescent tubes and give a much better working environment.
